Central Perc European Cafe is a little eatery located in Oakwood, Ohio. They serve tea, coffee, sandwiches, soups, and various desserts. Owned by a husband and wife duo, and they have been in business since 1996. A friend of theirs came up with the name, but it is unknown if the idea came from the famous NBC TV series Friends, which aired on September 22, 1994, and their renowned coffee house Central Perk.
Jonas and I ventured down to Central Perc European Cafe on Wednesday. I had the brilliant idea to insist Jonas try their excellent Black and Blue Tea with milk and sugar. Jonas wasn’t completely sold on the idea of tea with his lunch, but I knew if he tried it, he would love it.
At Central Perc, you are usually greeted by Mike, the owner. He is very friendly, and you can tell he truly loves serving the people of Oakwood. I noticed several times that he called people out by their names. I’ve witnessed this on every occasion I’ve been to the cafe. They are well-known and well-loved.
I decided to stick with my usual, the cucumber sandwich. I love the cucumber sandwich on white bread and made traditionally. Jonas tried their Roast-beef signature sandwiched between their baguette. We ordered a pot of black and blue, and Jonas ordered a coke just for his meal.
I had heard of this restaurant when I searched for a place to have a tea party for my daughter. During certain hours you can order tea for two, a tier of sandwiches, sweet treats, and tea of your choosing. My daughter loved the experience, and I enjoyed their food and tea so much I’ve returned with her yearly and several times throughout the year.
As I suspected, Central Perc European Cafe didn’t disappoint, and Jonas did enjoy the tea. But, like most people, he was unsure he would like it since he has mostly only had tea when feeling under the weather. I take my Black and Blue tea with two sugars and milk, making for a deliciously creamy mixture of sweet blueberry and black tea. Unfortunately, Jonas didn’t drink the tea with his sandwich, but who knows, maybe next time!
Jonas was pleasantly surprised that his roast-beef sandwich was delicious. It was fresh and tasty, unlike any other sandwich he had before. My cucumber sandwich was just as yummy as always. It’s creamy and crisp and makes for a pleasant light lunch. We were more than satisfied, and Jonas said he would definitely return again!
I should tell you in advance that they are only cash or check. If you go with just two people, you may want to sit at a two-person table because they can get quite busy. There is outdoor and indoor seating. You can enter the cafe through a direct back door if you park outback. Look for the name Central Perc. For GPS, the address is 2315 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, OH 45419, and should you need to call them; their number is 937-299-5282. Please give them a try! I hope you will love them as much as we do!
