Kids are constantly learning and exploring, and playing Children’s Games with them is a great way to expand their minds and spend quality time with them! Playing board games with your children is an excellent way to put the focus back on what’s important and help them grow. When you sit with a child and open that cardboard box, you tell them they are important and worth your time.
Why play Children’s Games?
It’s no secret that we live in a technology-driven era. As a result, cell phones have become more like body parts; unfortunately, they are usually necessary. So why play a board game with your child? Because when you play a game with a child, you get precious one-on-one time that’s incredibly hard to duplicate. You can witness a child grow, learn, and think intently about choices. These thinking skills will help them throughout life. Also, Children’s Games can be an excellent starting place if you are beginning to play board games. Most of these games will teach you the essential components of playing, which means these start you on a much smaller scale than a traditional board game geared toward adults. Gaming can be challenging, but I encourage you to try it. Starting here should make it easier for you as you move to more complex games.
At the very least, I encourage you to try. If one game doesn’t work for you or your child, try a different one! There are many games I enjoy and some that I dislike, this is true for my children also.
Plan your game night!
Below is a list of games that officially fit the Children’s Games category. However, please note that some may have more lengthy instructions and components. In addition, these games vary in intended ages. All these are designed for children ten years and under, and some specifically for ages 2-5. Of course, the games for older children can be just as fun for adults.
You should plan your games! Please pick a game well before you play with your child. You will need to be able to explain the game. I recommend hitting up Youtube for instruction videos. Watch It Played is fantastic for directions and instructions. Rodney Smith is very detailed and so helpful!! Understanding how a game works and the rules you must follow before you begin playing would be best. Nothing loses a child faster than waiting for someone to figure out the instructions. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but trust me, it’s well worth it! Pick a game, learn how to play, and play. It’s that simple.
