Elsas Mexican food

Elsa’s Corner Cantina

If you’re looking for good food, a laid-back vibe, and a spot that feels equal parts neighborhood hangout and hidden gem, you need to check out Elsa’s Corner Cantina on Wilmington Pike.

This location blends everything people love about Elsa’s—the big portions, strong drinks, and casual energy—with a slightly more low-key, intimate feel. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back, relax, and actually hear the people you’re with while still soaking up that classic Elsa’s buzz.

What We Ate

We started with the chips and salsa, because you have to. The salsa’s fresh, flavorful, and has a nice little bite to it—and the chips are always warm and crisp. We added a side of queso too, because when in doubt, add cheese.

I (Katie) ordered my ride-or-die favorite: the Super Burrito with Chicken. I don’t know what magic they put into that combination of meat, cheese, and sauce, but it’s a comfort food classic. Messy? Sure. Worth it? Absolutely.

Jonas went with the Buffalo Chicken Bowl, minus the bleu cheese. It’s got just the right balance of heat and flavor, and it’s a great option if you want something filling that’s a little lighter than a burrito. And let’s be honest, he’s probably just pacing himself for a plate of wings next time.

Bad Juans Still Reign Supreme

Yes, they have Bad Juans—and yes, they’re just as sneaky at Corner Cantina as they are at every other Elsa’s. Frozen or on the rocks, they’re smooth, strong, and downright dangerous if you’re not paying attention.

One night, I decided to throw caution to the wind and have three. Just one of those “I’ll be fine” moments with Jonas and a few friends. Let’s just say: our friends laughed, Jonas looked on with a mix of concern and amusement—mostly amusement. One Bad Juan is fun, two is bold, three is a story.

What Makes This Spot Unique

Corner Cantina has a slightly more laid-back energy compared to some of the other Elsa’s spots, which honestly makes it a great choice if you want all the flavor without the full-blown sports bar chaos. It’s clean, welcoming, and the service is fast and friendly.

There’s a nice bar area if you’re just stopping in for drinks, plenty of booth seating for dinner, and a cozy vibe that makes you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit.
