Elsa’s East Restaurant & Cantina
If you’ve lived in the Miami Valley for any length of time, chances are you’ve heard of Elsa’s—and if you haven’t been yet, let this be your sign. While they have several locations across the Dayton area, Elsa’s East on Linden Avenue has its own charm that keeps us coming back.
This spot is casual, fun, and always full of energy. Whether you’re there for a quick lunch or a long dinner with friends, the food and drinks never disappoint.
What We Always Order
I (Katie) almost always go with the Super Burrito with Chicken—it’s one of those go-to meals that hits the spot every single time. Stuffed full and smothered in sauce, it’s flavorful, filling, and just feels like comfort on a plate.
Jonas usually orders the Buffalo Chicken Bowl—hold the bleu cheese. It’s got just the right amount of heat and flavor, and it’s a solid pick every time. He’s also a big fan of Elsa’s wings, especially when they’re done right. According to him, “The Kettering spot off Marshall on Stroop has the best wings—hands down.” They cook them differently than the other locations, and they’re delicious.
The Bad Juan Incident 😅
Now, no trip to Elsa’s is complete without a Bad Juan—Dayton’s most dangerously delicious margarita. It’s smooth, it’s strong, and it sneaks up on you.
One time, I made the questionable life choice of having three. Yes, three. With Jonas and a few friends. Our friends were dying laughing…
Jonas took it all in with a mix of amusement and concern—mostly amusement. One Bad Juan is fun, two is bold, three is a story.

Elsa’s East gives you that classic neighborhood vibe. The service is fast, the food’s always hot, and the energy is fun whether you’re in a booth or at the bar watching a game.
We’ll be highlighting the other Elsa’s locations soon—each one has its own vibe and something unique to offer. From the food to the drinks to the atmosphere, they all deliver in their own way. Elsa’s East Restaurant & Cantina on Linden Ave is just the first on our list… and if you haven’t been, it’s absolutely worth the visit. Great food, good memories, and one very strong margarita.
