Elsa’s On The Border
If you’re driving down Wilmington Ave and spot a line of cars and a packed patio, you’ve probably found Elsa’s On The Border—one of Dayton’s favorite hangouts for big burritos, bold drinks, and a no-stress kind of vibe.
Each Elsa’s location has its own personality, and this one brings a slightly more relaxed feel. It’s not quite as rowdy as the sports grill in Kettering, but it still packs in the energy, especially during dinner and happy hour.

What We Ate
We kicked things off with the chips and salsa—warm, crispy chips paired with a salsa that has just the right amount of kick. We almost always add a side of queso too, because honestly, once that creamy, cheesy goodness hits the table, it’s game over.

I (Katie) ordered the Super Burrito with Chicken, which might just be the ultimate comfort meal. It’s huge, packed with flavor, and smothered in sauce. You’ll need a fork—and maybe a nap after.

Jonas went with the Buffalo Chicken Bowl, no bleu cheese. It’s spicy, filling, and comes loaded with seasoned chicken, rice, and plenty of toppings. It’s one of those dishes that hits the spot without being too heavy, especially if you’re planning on pairing it with a drink or two (which, let’s be honest, you should).

Drinks Worth Talking About 🍹
Of course, no visit to Elsa’s is complete without a Bad Juan. These margaritas are legendary in Dayton—strong, smooth, and somehow even sneakier when frozen.
I once made the bold (and slightly questionable) decision to have three in one night with Jonas and some friends. Our group thought it was hilarious. Jonas watched the situation unfold with a mix of amusement and concern—mostly amusement. One Bad Juan is fun, two is bold, three is a story.

The Vibe
Elsa’s On The Border has a more laid-back, almost neighborhood bar feel compared to some of the other locations. It’s a great place to catch up with friends, grab a booth for dinner, or swing by for happy hour after work. The staff is friendly, the food is quick, and there’s always a steady stream of locals coming and going—which, to me, is a good sign.
There’s patio seating when the weather’s nice, and it’s a perfect spot for a casual night out where you don’t have to think too hard—just good food, cold drinks, and plenty of chips to go around.
