We went to Geez Pub & Grill in Washington Township, OH. It is a locally owned and operated restaurant, and the family members still actively work within the restaurant, so when I say it is family-owned, it is. I started going to Geez at their old location when they were a little up the road on 48. They are now located on 48, still on far Hills, but they are where that old Ruby Tuesday’s is, right there in the same parking lot as Dorthey Lane market. There’s a Shell gas station right around the corner to give you some context for the general areas.
Before going into the food review, I want to point out something. It is locally owned and operated, and the food reviews I like to do, are traditionally going to be this way. Sometimes this may not be the case, but I like supporting locally-owned businesses.
I saw on their website that they opened up in 1994, and the family resided in Kettering. I believe it’s now the son that owns and operates Geez’s.
What We Ordered
As an appetizer, I did go ahead and order the balls on a stick. The balls on the stick are simply Geez’s original meatballs served with marinara sauce. For an extra dollar, I added cheese.
I ordered a Reuben sandwich with house chips for my main meal. The house chips come with the sandwich. I love Rubens, and I get them and a bunch of different places. The Ruben tastes excellent here. It is a rather juicy sandwich. The one thing I complained about is that the bread was a little bit on the soggy side. It came out piping hot, so I don’t think for a moment that it had been sitting back there, nor did it sit at the table before I ate it. I dug right in, but what I do like about the sandwiches it’s not overly thick. It can be a little much when they put too much meat or too much of the sauerkraut, and then you’re left with a very thick sandwich. It’s not difficult to eat, and it’s not messy. It’s easy and simple to put down.
Katie got the Italian dip, not to be confused with a French dip. The Italian dip has premium cooked roast beef sliced thin on a hoagie roll slightly toasted with Au Jus for dipping. The menu said you could upgrade by adding mushrooms, onions, green peppers, and provolone cheese. She got it simply as an Italian dip, which looked pretty good. I’ve never actually had it. However, she said it was rather tasty.
Sports Bar
At Geez Pub & Grill, there are large-screen televisions throughout the restaurant and a bar. If you are looking to catch a football game, I saw on the website that they have the NFL ticket with DIRECTV. If you are looking for a place to go and watch the game on a Monday, Thursday, or Sunday night, I suggest you try them.
Again, they are a locally owned and operated business. Whenever you can give back to the community, instead of going to someplace like B Dubs, that’s a national chain, we are a lot better off as a community.
Geez Pub & Grill in Washington Township, OH, does offer some pretty gnarly pizzas. They have chicken Alfredo, barbecue chicken, steak Reuben pizza, and deluxe pizzas. I’m sure they have traditionally made pizza too. However, I’ve never had one of the pizzas. Usually, I like to come here for their sandwiches.
