If you haven’t made your way to Little Fish Brewing Co Dayton Station, now is the time. Tucked into a beautifully repurposed rail station just off East 2nd Street in Dayton, this spot is far more than your typical brewpub — it’s a love letter to Ohio craft, culture, and cuisine.
Founded in Athens, Ohio, Little Fish Brewing built its reputation on sustainably brewed beers made with local ingredients and an eye toward environmental responsibility. When they opened their Dayton location in 2022, they brought that same ethos with them — and we’re glad they did. From the moment you pull into the brick-paved parking lot, it’s clear this place is something special.
A Space That Sets the Tone
Walking up to Dayton Station, the character of the building immediately stands out. It’s warm, rustic, and welcoming — a space that balances Dayton’s industrial past with modern charm. Inside, you’ll find a bright, open layout with plenty of natural light, high ceilings, and well-thought-out design touches that make the whole place feel fresh but grounded. Whether you’re sitting inside near the bar or outside on the patio, there’s not a bad seat in the house.
Locally Sourced, Thoughtfully Crafted
At The Miami Valley Experience, we’re all about supporting local — and Little Fish Brewing Co does exactly that. Their menu showcases ingredients from nearby farms and producers, highlighting the rich food scene we’re lucky to have in the region.
We kicked off our lunch with two unforgettable starters:
- Salmon Dip – A creamy blend of Faroe Island salmon, mascarpone, cream cheese, preserved lemon, and pickled shallots, served with Good Hands seeded sourdough (from a local bakery). Rich and bright with just the right amount of salt and tang.
- Chimi Fries (V/DF) – Crispy russet potatoes topped with zesty chimichurri and creamy garlic aioli. These were a knockout and might be our new favorite fry combo anywhere in Dayton.
The Mains: Comfort Meets Creativity
For the main course, we split two very different, equally memorable plates.
Katie went for the Mushroom Bulgogi Bowl (GF/DF). It came loaded with Guided by Mushrooms’ oyster and pioppino mushrooms (yes, local again!), jasmine rice, housemade kimchi, crisp cucumber, and radish. The flavors were bold, complex, and slightly spicy — a bit too much heat for Katie (it doesn’t take much she didn’t realize it would have a kick), but the textures and freshness had her going back for more.
Meanwhile, Jonas tried the Catfish Po’ Boy, and it stole the show. Crispy cornmeal-breaded catfish on a hoagie roll, layered with tangy remoulade, pickled red onions, bread & butter pickles, and crunchy lettuce. It was satisfying, balanced, and just flat-out delicious. Served with a side of house-pickled vegetables — or upgrade to garlic aioli fries.
