Jonas and I dined at The Flying Pizza for lunch. They are a mom-and-pop New York-style pizzeria in the Miami Valley. Flying Pizza offers three locations. When we went at lunchtime, they took our order at the counter, and then we sat at a booth in the back of the restaurant.
Locations:
- Beavercreek/Fairborn
- Centerville
- Dayton
Design
Inside, it’s a small open-concept design. At the front of the store is the counter where you will place your order. On the left side are rows of booths for seating and booths on the right and left towards the back. Jonas and I sat in the back, and when I returned with my children, we sat in that same spot. Apparently, I’m not too fond of change (ha). The bathrooms are also in the back and an emergency exit.
Service
There aren’t servers at the Flying Pizza. You order up front, and then they bring you your food, and that’s the only contact you’ll have or need. Of course, if you need something, you’ll want to return to the counter, but other than getting a refill (which costs $.50, by the way), we didn’t require anything else. The staff up front was friendly, and our food came right after it was cooked.
What We Ordered
We wanted to try an appetizer and ordered their breadsticks. They were good, especially with the cheese sauce. I ordered two slices of cheese pizza, and Jonas ordered two slices, one cheese, and one pepperoni. The slices are genuinely New York Style, and the slices are huge!
Final Thoughts on The Flying Pizza
We had a great lunch and a pleasant experience at The Flying Pizza. I went back with my children for another visit, and they loved it. Also, I want to add that eight slices are an entire pizza. I ordered a whole pizza for the kids and me.
The Flying Pizza is most certainly worth exploring. If you head there, please return here and comment. We’d love to hear about your experience. Also, be sure to check out our other food reviews HERE.
