Underground Chuck’s in Centerville, Ohio: A Fresh Take on a Familiar Location
If you’ve spent time in Centerville, you probably recognize the building that once housed O’Charley’s along State Route 725.
Today, that same location is home to Underground Chuck’s—and while the space may feel familiar, the experience is something entirely new.
After visiting with my husband and then going back again with Jonas Helbert, one thing stood out right away: this is not a revamped O’Charley’s. Chuck’s has created its own identity, especially when it comes to the menu—and it absolutely delivers.
A Familiar Space with a Completely New Menu
Heading in, you may notice some of the familiar layout from the previous restaurant, but that’s where the similarities stop.
The menu at Underground Chuck’s is completely different—and that’s what makes it stand out.
This isn’t a rebranded version of what used to be there. It’s a fresh concept with bold, flavorful options that go far beyond what you might expect if you remember O’Charley’s.
If anything, the familiar setting just makes it feel comfortable—while the food brings a whole new experience.
Outstanding Service
Before even getting into the food, the service deserves its own spotlight.
We had one of the best waiters I’ve experienced in a long time. He was attentive, friendly, and made the entire experience even better from start to finish.
He really understood how to serve up a great experience.
The Pretzel
The pretzel is an absolute must.
It comes out warm, soft, and perfectly baked with just the right amount of salt. The texture hits that perfect balance—slightly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside—and the dipping sauces take it to another level.
It was knot your average appetizer… okay, I’ll see myself out.
Fish Tacos
You really can’t go wrong with the fish tacos.
They’re fresh, flavorful, and perfectly put together. The fish is cooked just right, and the toppings complement each bite without overpowering it.
These tacos definitely tackle the top spot as one of the best menu items.
Burgers
The burgers at Underground Chuck’s are done right.
They’re juicy, full of flavor, and cooked exactly how you want them. Everything from the toppings to the bun comes together for a really solid, satisfying meal.
Let’s just say they really know how to “meat” expectations.
Wings
The wings are another height (pun intended)… which is ironic, because I know chickens don’t really fly—but we’re going with it.
They’re cooked perfectly with a great texture and packed with flavor. Whether you’re ordering them to share or keeping them all to yourself, they’re a great choice.
Definitely something worth flying back for… okay, I’m done now (maybe).
Sweet Potato Fries
The sweet potato fries are just as impressive.
They’re crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and have that perfect balance of sweet and savory. They pair well with anything you order and are worth adding every time.
These fries are definitely on the “sweet” side of perfection.
Mango Cake
The mango cake is something special.
It’s light, flavorful, and has just the right amount of sweetness. The mango gives it a fresh, unique flavor that really stands out from typical desserts.
This dessert definitely “takes the cake” as my favorite.

Final Thoughts
Underground Chuck’s has taken a familiar Centerville location and created something entirely its own.
With a completely new menu, great service, and a lineup of standout food—from the pretzel and fish tacos to the wings, burgers, and mango cake—it’s a place that’s easy to recommend.
And yes… I’d go back again and again.
